Born with one of the enlargement of the medieval walls and placed very close to the port, El Raval was, since the beginning of the 20th century –when crime, prostitution and immoral nightlife filled its narrow streets-, Barcelan’s red-light district. Bounded by La Rambla, Pelayo street, Ronda de Sant Antoni, Ronda de Sant Pau, Paral•lel and Passeig de Josep Carner, the multicultural neighbourhood is home to a very diverse immigrant community. Along with restaurants and night spots, we find La Boqueria market and the MACBA museum.
